The Ecoleader Fund is an initiative of the Government of Quebec, which provides financial support in the form of a grant to businesses that want to retain experts to help them integrate environmentally responsible business practices or plan for the procurement of clean technology. Ecoleader supports eco-friendly projects and actions such as developing diagnoses and research, formulating strategies, and implementing support procedures. Here’s everything you need to know about the recent changes made in September 2021, and why this may be a good opportunity for your organization.
What Changes Were Made to the Ecoleader Funding Program?
Ecoleader funds are provided to organizations and enterprises to encourage improvement in their environmental responsibility or to adopt cleaner technologies. Now, with the aim of supporting even more companies in the implementation of sustainable business practices and clean technologies, on September 14, 2021, Ecoleader announced new, more financially flexible conditions to increase the number of projects and make the funding program more accessible. These changes include:
- The fund can now finance up to 75% of admissible spending for studies, the development of action plans and eco-responsibility support, compared to 50% previously.
- Enterprises can now receive up to $40,000 for projects looking at adopting eco-friendly practices and up to $60,000 for project looking acquiring clean technology, an increase of $10,000 per project compared to prior years.
- Companies can submit more than one project at a time. Project types can also be combined, e.g., acquiring a cleaner technology and more Eco responsible practices with a cap at $100,000 for a project.
